LGLC Scholarship Program

The Lake George Land Conservancy is proud to offer this annual scholarship program to benefit local high school seniors and schools. Please see the information below for details. Questions may be directed to Helen Barton Benedict at hbartonbenedict@lglc.org or call 518-644-9673.

Eligibility:  High School Seniors, including homeschooled students, whose school district boundary lies mostly within the of Lake George watershed: Bolton Landing, Lake George or Ticonderoga (also - students who are year-round residents of Hulett's Landing).

Award:  $750 to student and $250 to student's school science program (preferably earth science or biology departments) to help provide equipment or field trips/educational enhancement opportunities.  We ask for a verbal or written follow up of what the funds had been used towards within a year of award to the school.

To apply: Submit an essay between 1000 and 2000 words covering the annual question (posted at right).  The questions will be creatively based in exploring the relationship of land and water – specifically, dealing with the relationship’s impact on the water quality within the Lake George Watershed.  Essays are to be submitted to the Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) via email to hbartonbenedict@lglc.org.

Annual Essay and Decision: The winner will be announced by June 1st.  The awardee will be asked to attend LGLC’s Annual Meeting to receive their check during an awards ceremony.  The 2014 Annual Meeting will take place at the Inn at Earlwest in Lake George, the morning of Thursday, July 17th.
