Join us for our annual favorite – a evening/night-time hike in search of owls at Amy’s Park.
This year’s hike will be led by Ornithologist and Educator Alan Belford, who is back by popular demand after leading an excellent birding walks and owl prowls for the LGLC over the past couple of years! Check out his barred owl call Here!
$10 per person
This year, due to Covid-19 procedures, we will be limiting the prowl to 10 people. We ask that all participants practice social distancing and wear masks around others.
Learn the different sounds of the common species of owls found in the area and listen carefully as we try to meet some up close. In addition, Alan will identify and teach about all of the different bird and duck species living at the Preserve.
The walk will take place in the evening from 5:30pm-8:30pm** to improve the chances of sighting an owl. It is not required to stay for the whole walk; alternatively, Alan will offer for people to stay and walk with him past 8:30pm if he thinks he might find an owl.
Approx. 1-2 miles round-trip, easy/moderate hike (actual length of hike depends on registrants and weather conditions). Registration required. Headlamps, sturdy shoes/hiking boots recommended.
* this event is subject to cancellation if we do not reach the minimum number of registrants *
